Leeds University Powerlifters – Champions of the North!

Another powerlifting blog post, I do do other stuff I promise!  It just so happens that there is a lot going on in my world with powerlifting at the minute.

At the end of the 2015/16 academic year a student and powerlifter, Danny White approached me with regards to setting up a LUU Powerlifting and Weightlifting Club run from the university’s excellent training facility.  He worked very hard, with a few other key members over the summer to get the club up and running for the 2016/17 acamdeic year, with myself as the powerlifting coach.  We had a great range of people attending training ranging from complete newbies, to some seasoned lifters.

Everyone trained really hard throughout Semester one and two, and the newbies no longer looked like beginners with some great lifting from everyone at the club, both powerlifter and weightlifters.

Last weekend, towards the end of the academic year was the 2017 Northern Universities Powerlifting Championships. We absaloutely smashed it, taking away best male team, best female team, best overall team and best male lifter overall, PBs were broken and so were some divisional records.  A great result for a great bunch of lifters.
